I was watching The Resident last night, (have you watched it? It's on Disney+) and Conrad (the McDreamy type doctor with mad skills but still a big God complex) talked about how being a doctor was hard, especially when a patient dies, bit if it was easy, everyone would do it.

It occurred to me that it's the same way running a business. It's hard, but really, it allows you to do the things you love. It may be hard but we do it to out us be our own boss, to let us pursue our passions. What I want to do is make it a bit easier for you. Or at least, demystify the process a bit.

I want to tell you a secret I wish I knew at the beginning (about marketing on social media). Marketing companies will have you believe that you HAVE to do this or tat if you want followers, likes, or engagement. The HUGE secret is, it is not actually about those things at all. It's actually about people buying your products or purchasing your services. If you have 100 followers and more orders than you can fill, you are winning at social media. The moment you opened that Instagram account for your business, it was never about followers, it was about getting your products or services out there. The ONLY people who need to worry about followers are the people who use Instagram to make a living.

If you have 100 followers and not enough orders or clients there are some things you can do to leverage that audience, even if it's small to become great customers. After all, if you owned a shop and you had 100 people in that store, you'd be thrilled, wouldn't you?

6 WAYS TO TURN 100 FOLLOWERS INTO GREAT CUSTOMERS

  1. Post Valuable Content. These people already follow you, create content that they will love and they will continue to follow you for.

  2. Get to Know Who They Are. Check out their profiles, comment on their posts with genuine questions about ho they are.

  3. Have Good Conversations With Them (NOT about your product). People can feel intentions and if you start out with the intention to sell you will lose them. Start with the intention of curiosity about the people who follow you and they will respond.

  4. Promote Them (if they have a business). there is no better way to make someone see you than promoting their business on your stories.

  5. Ask Questions on Your Stories and Follow Up on Them Individually. You get to know your people but you also start to build a relationship. Getting to know the people who follow you makes it easier to create content that you know they will like.

  6. After You Get to Know Your People, Offer Your Followers Something Exclusive. Try offering 50% off for followers, BOGO, or a free consult. This has the result that you aren't actually selling them something, you are giving and it reminds them that you you have a business and want to make some $$$.

Now, I'm off to creep some followers! Have a great day!
