I did a MEGA giveaway on social media for a few years. It was a lot of fun and so much good will. I got to promote local businesses and it spread so much cheer. Last Christmas, I had a really blah time of it! I had problems with the partners, there were ALL the exact same people, I hardly got any impressions on social media. It all felt flat. I don't know what it was but it did not work.
Then I found out that, apparently even the word "giveaway" on Instagram is demoted. It's pushed back and even your followers won't see the posts. Giveaways on Instagram is not the payday it was a few years ago. My first give-away got 100s of new followers, this last one, I got 2.
My advice to you is, if you are going to do a giveaway, do it off social media. You can take a pic of you with your giveaway but don't even mention the words. If your goal is to gain more followers, don't do a giveaway.
Also, as a side note, I follow the #giveaway hashtag and I NEVER get any posts from it. Actually, I rarely see giveaways anymore.
In more promising news, it's almost my most favourite holiday! I love Christmas, oddly enough I hate the winter but love Christmas. It's so much more fun with little ones too. They bring so much life.
One of my friends made me the cutest advent calendar and it's one of my favourite things to fill each year. With my hubby being a dentist, chocolate everyday isn't really a great idea. What do you fill your advent calendars with?
