Have you ever heard the adage where the shoemaker's children goes barefoot? or the tailor's wife has holes in her clothes? We tend to neglect ourselves and our families when it comes to our line of work.

This is completely true of me right now. I just realized that I hadn't blogged in quite some time. If I were advising someone else, I'd tell them at least once a month and for heaven's sake make a schedule and a spreadsheet with ideas! But do I follow my own advice? Nope! I blithely walk along doing the stuff and telling others what to do while NOT doing it myself. Oh dear! Maybe I'll pull my socks up and make myself a schedule and some ideas on what to post and then I'll share the template with you? How does that sound?

I also have to admit I kind of took the summer off. You know people tend to feel like they need to go, go, go, go, and never stop, especially small business owners. We feel like if we don't keep going, going, we will lose out on all that business. The truth is, I've realized, if I don't take a break, I get burnt out, my creativity flies out the window and my work suffers. So here I am, on the first day of school for my kiddos, all ready to tackle this again! Here we go!

I wasn't totally MIA all summer. I've been working on a few projects. One was my glorious garden! Ohh! What a beauty! I'm now just getting to harvest stuff from it and we've been eating tomatoes and zucchini for days. If anyone has any recipes they'd like to pass along -please do. I've also worked with a very talented, passionate entrepreneur with optimizing their SEO on their WIX website. That was a TON of fun. I love giving advice! It's one of those things you aren't supposed to do but, man I love it!

I started a new project in designing a website and getting a logo into different file formats. I had to trace it in Adobe Illustrator. First, I tried it in Procreate, then in Illustrator, I think I even tried Powerpoint at one point. I kept going back and forth until settling on the very faithful Illustrator. It's the best for creating logos - it just is.

Now I'm going to have to try my hand at Wordpress. I have to admit, I don't like it as much as I like WIX. Wix is just so intuitive! I've built more websites than I can count on it and I keep going back to it.

Now I'm going to go and create myself a business card! Legit! I know! I can't even stand it myself. I am totally going legit. I got myself a fancy new computer, and a mouse even! I used to do everything on my laptop and I was fine until it came to login into someone else's computer. I even designed logos in illustrator on my laptop. I even used Sketchup! Now I don't know if you've ever used those programs, but I'm even proud of me!

lotsa love
